PURPOSE:To increase gas sealing capability and corrosion resistance in an edge sealing part by employing a stainless steel edge sealing plate on which a corrosion resistant treatment layer comprising iron-aluminium intermetallic compound is formed. CONSTITUTION:A gas supply cover 12 with an edge sealing plate 13 is installed on an electrolyte plate 11 to which a stainless steel lower plate 15 is closely attached to form a gas filling part 18. The edge sealing plate 13 made of stainless steel is held in an aluminium chloride gas at high temperature to form a corrosion resistant treatment layer comprising iron-aluminium intermetallic compound on the surface of the edge sealing plate 13. By the use of this plate 13, gas sealing capability and corrosion resistance in the edge sealing part are increased. |
