CODING SYSTEM FOR PICTURE SIGNAL

摘要

PURPOSE:To attain a coded output with less error from an original picture signal by coding and outputting a code word of a current picture element in the combination of quantization errors of a current picture element and a predicted picture element minimizing an error evaluation depending on each quantization error. CONSTITUTION:Each of local encoder groups 24 L0,...L7 calculates a decoded value -xi of a current picture element being the sum of a j-th representative value represented by an output data of a register 27 and a predicted value of a picture element xi to be coded among quantization characteristics and calculates square of a quantization error being a difference between the decoded value -xi and the current picture element as a square error (epsiloni)<2>. Then a prediction value xi+1 with respect to a picture element xi+1 to be coded next is subtracted from a succeeding picture element xi+1 and the result is quantized by a quantization characteristic depending on the (j) and ri among quantization characteristics by which the prediction error is selected to obtain a quantization representative value, and the square of the quantiza tion error obtained by the difference between the quantization representative value and the prediction error is calculated as a square error (epsiloni+1)<2> and the sum of (epsiloni)<2> and (epsiloni+1)<2> is outputted.
