<p>A building set for building an internal combustion engine complying with a base module characteristic of the building set, has a connecting rod element (9) connecting an associated piston (6) with crank elements (12, 13) so that the crank bearing (111) of the connecting rod (9) is somewhat displaced in the longitudinal direction of the engine with respect to the radial plane of the piston (6) transversely to the crank shaft.
