The radiating surface (45) of a pressure pulse source (46) has rotational symmetry about the axis (M) and is tapered towards the focal regions (F1, F2) of two reflectors (41,42). In the working position each reflector diverts the boundary rays (47a, 47b) of the outgoing radiation into the appropriate focal region (F1,F2). A central ultrasonic transducer (50) is fitted into above (51) in a holder on which an acoustic waveguide (52) is formed.
