A liq. tight and gas tight packing is made in the form of a shallow rectangular dish which is provided with a cover. The dish is made from a sheet of thin cardboard which is coated with plastics which enables the cover to be heat sealed to the dish flanges. The dish is made from a rectangular blank which is folded to form sloping side walls and turned out flanges (17,18,19,20). The edges (29) to (32) of these flanges form continuous lines with the sides of the square areas (21) to (24) at the dish corners when the blank is folded to form the dish. USE - Packing of foodstuff.
