The latent-heat accumulator has a closed housing heat-insulated from the outside, preferably in the form of a flat packet. This contains a first closed chamber, in which is a storage mass for the latent heat, of saline phase-changing material. The heat-transfer liquid flows through a second chamber between inlet and outlet pipes, there being a heat-transfer partition between the chambers. A pipe (1) forms the second chamber and partition, and runs in a double-spiral in a single plane. Flow takes place from outside to inside in the first spiral, and the opposite way in the second, the spirals being connected together at the centre, and to the inlet or outlet pipes (5) at their outer ends. The first chamber (3) is formed by the spaces between the runs of pipe, and between the pipe and the housing wall. USE/ADVANTAGE - Low cost, and uses waste heat below 100 deg.C., from processing etc, being particularly for night-storage heating.
