The present invention relates to an antitheft device for a steering column. This device essentially comprises a U-shaped part (1) or calliper which is interposed between a fixed tubular member (2) and a tube (3) mounted rotatably inside the member (2), while two movable parts (4) forming wedges can be moved by a sliding bolt (5) and so introduced between an arm (6) of the part (1) and the tube (3) housed between the two arms (6) of the U-shaped part (1). This device enables the steering column of a vehicle to be locked immediately in any angular position.
