PURPOSE:To offer an economical optical transmitting device of high performance used for transmitting analog image signals by a method wherein a semiconductor laser of a Fabry-Perot resonator structure, which is provided with a dielectric multilayered film of high reflectivity at its reflecting edge face and driven by an analog image signal, and an optical fiber amplifier are provided. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor laser 1 of a Fabry-Perot resonator structure, which is provided with a dielectric multilayered film of high reflectivity at its reflecting edge face, an optical fiber amplifier 2, and a normal optical connector 3 whose end faces are not obliquely polished, are provided. The high reflectivity type Fabry-Perot semiconductor laser 1 is decreased in external differential quantum efficiency by the increase in the edge face reflectivity, but an optical transmitting device compensates the reduction in the external differential quantum efficiency with the optical fiber amplifier 2. The optical fiber amplifier 2 is applicable enough to the frequency multiplex optical transmitting system of analog image signals. |
