PURPOSE:To obtain the toner having good electrostatic chargeability without contg. a charge control agent by introducing a chargeable functional group into the toner surface. CONSTITUTION:The chargeable functional group is bonded to the particle surface. Namely, the particles to constitute the toner are dispersed into a soln. dissolved with a radical generating agent and thereafter, heat or other energy is applied to the radical generating agent to generate radicals by the radical generating agent. Then, the generated radicals bond to the active sites of the particle surfaces and the electron-withdrawing groups chemically bonded to the particle surfaces are introduced into the surface to form the negative chargeable functional group. The negative chargeable toner is thus formed. The negative chargeable toner is obtd. in the case of an anionic surfactant and the positive chargeable toner is obtd. in the case of a cationic surfactant if the radicals are generated from the radical generating agent in the presence of the surfactant. The toner having the stable chargeability is obtd. in this way without using the charge control agent. |
