The polyester resin according to the present invention, which comprises a dicarboxylic acid component and a diol component as structural units thereof, is a biomass resource-derived polyester resin having a considerably good polymer color and a good polymerizability and being characterized in that: the diol component contains a biomass resource-derived diol; and, when analyzed by gas chromatography, the biomass resource-derived diol contains 1,000 ppm or less of component A that is detected at a retention time of 14.4-14.6 minutes. The biomass resource-derived diol component is preferably ethylene glycol. |
