The clamp has a drive mechanism in a body and actuating a lever holding a workpiece in a fixed position on a baseplate. The lever (2) has a control face (24, 25) working with a driving member actuated by the mechanism, also an elongated hole (8), by which it engages with a stationary guide for sliding and tilting movement. A guiding stop (5) for the lever is mounted above it. USE/ADVANTAGE - A workpiece, particularly of sheet-metal, can be placed on a table from the top unhindered, and removed in the same direction.
