<p>A method of and apparatus for joining adjacent ends (10 and 11) of conveyor or power transmission belting, using a lacing material (12) in the form of a wire cord to form a spliced joint. The lacing material (12) is directed around rollers (20 to 23) which are driven in a manner such that the lacing material is caused to form successive loops around the rollers and, at the same time, to pass through holes (13) in the adjacent ends (10 and 11) of the belting. Having formed the last of the loops, drive to the rollers (20 to 23) is maintained and the rollers are moved progressively from within the loops, so that successive ones of the loops are progressively released from contact with the rollers, and excess lacing material is drawn through the holes in the belting to tighten the loops and complete the spliced joint.</p> |
