<p>Water soluble polymers containing N-9-xanthenylacrylamide and/or N-dibenzosuberenylacrylamide are readily prepared by the vinyl addition polymerization of one or more vinyl monomers with the said acrylamide monomer(s), and are useful as fluorescent dyes.
