<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a constant floating height of a floating head by changing a fine rugged pattern mechanically formed on the surface of a magneto-optical recording medium to the radial direction of the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A magneto-optical recording film 2 is formed on a substrate 1, on which a protective film 3 is formed. The surface of the protective film 3 has a fine rugged pattern 4 which are formed mechanically in a manner that the pattern in an inner area of the disk is almost perpendicular to the rotation direction of the disk while the pattern in the outer area is parallel to the rotation direction. The surface treatment of the disk is performed by pressing a tape 6 having fine rugged pattern on its surface to the disk with a press roll 7. In the outer area, the tape is pressed and sent to the direction of arrow A in the figure while the disk is rotated. In the inner area, the press roll 7 is moved from outer area to the inner area so that the traveling direction of the tape 6 is almost perpendicular to the rotation direction of the disk.</p> |
