Method and device for production of hollow microspheres by heating microsphere substances produced from material containing expansion agent to a higher temperature than the original dissolution temperature of the expansion agent. The invention relates in particular to a method and device for the manufacture of hollow microspheres from glass. The microspheres are manufactured in a single melting phase, in which the temperature being raised by means of the opening in a spray plate 2 in a spray chamber 1 connected with the melting furnace to the temperature of the molten glass wires which corresponds to a final expansion temperature of about 1300 degree C in a microwave furnace 3 using microwaves with a frequency of about 2-4 MHz, at which pinching and expansion to hollow microspheres takes place, after which the resultant microspheres are cooled. <IMAGE>
