METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A COMPOSITE ARTICLE AND COMPOSITE ARTICLE

In a method for manufacturing a shaped composite article by dry impregnation a matrix material (6) in a solid state is combined with a reinforcing material and the matrix material is subjected to heat treatment for converting it to a material in the state of a continuous phase. The reinforcing material comprises at least one layer (5) of knitted web. The matrix material is of thermoplastic plastic material or of a carbonizable polymer, and it is brought in contact with the layer of knitted web in the form of fibres or powder before the heat treatment.
