A chain feed system (4) is used to transport cut lengths of leads to a station where they are collected together in a bundle. Each lead is retained by the chain by a gripper (8) and one end is finished with a connecting plug. A cable loop (5) is formed between the clamping stages. At a specific location a pair of clamps (1, 2) with jaw elements is opened to admit the leads together with formed clips that are pressed around the bundle to provide a secure retention. USE/ADVANTAGE - Ensures leads are held in correct connecting positions, e.g. in motor vehicle, office appts., domestic appliances and other electrical equipment with circuits. Suitable for automation,e.g. by robot or handling appts. with guides on prodn. line.
