The invention relates to a device for wringing out a painting roller (7), this roller having a cylindrical shape and exhibiting a central bore (72). According to the invention the device comprises: - a leak-tight enclosure (1); - a shaft (4) the diameter of which is slightly less than that of the said bore (72), which is situated inside the enclosure (1) and is guided in terms of rotation inside the latter, one of the ends of this shaft (4) passing through a wall (3) of the enclosure in order to emerge therefrom via a so-called "outer part" (40); - means (6, 6') allowing the roller (7) to be wrung out to be fixed onto the said shaft (4) after it has been slipped onto it; - a groove pulley (50) fixed to the outer part (40) of the shaft; - a small cord (8) having one end attached to the said pulley (50) and which is wound in its groove, successive pulls on this small cord allowing the shaft (4) and the roller (7) carried by the latter to be made to rotate at high speed alternately in both directions. <IMAGE>
