The cover is applied as a fire-extinguishing means in fires of liquid fuels such as oil, heavy oil, diesel fuel etc. Large fires can be extinguished with it e.g. oil wells, shafts, tanks. The cover is parachute-shaped and consists of a support net (2), faced with non-flammable material and loose hanging filaments(3).When extinguishing the fire, the filaments absorb the fuel and turn into a heavy, not a hardly inflammable mass, eliminating the air access towards the fire.<IMAGE>
