Device for making it possible to handle kerbs (6) of pavements, essentially consisting of an assembly mounted orientably at the end of the articulated arm of a public works machine. It is characterised in that: - it is mounted at the end of the articulated operating arm by means of a support allowing rotation over 360 DEG , and which has the form of a V-shaped support frame, at the ends of the arms (3a, 3b) of which the assembly forming the clamp is fixed, this being such that the two jaws (7a, 7b) of the clamp tend to move towards each other under the action of a pull exerted on the said support frame in order to lift the kerb element; - the jaws (7a, 7b) are opened and closed by means of a jack (16), which can actuate the said jaws (7a, 7b) only when the load is on the ground. <IMAGE>
