A mixt. of materials for the prepn. of an aid for use in technical medicine which can be resorbed by the human body and is esp. used as an applicator for intestinal probes consists of 50-80 wt.% gelatin decomposed by alkali and 20-50 wt.% gelatin decomposed by acid and a plasticiser. USE/ADVANTAGE - To produce an applicator for intestinal probes for use in operations of the small intestine-ileum. The applicator easily slides into the intestine and dissolves less quickly than previous applicators. It is very flexible and is resorbed by the body without problems. The gelatin applicator can be attached to any tube material and facilitates safe handling esp. when silicone material is used. By varying the ratio of alkaline to acid decomposed gelatin, the speed of dissolving can be controlled and prolonged by mixing in colloidal silicic acid.
