The invention relates to a device making it possible permanently or temporarily to shed the load on a single-phase or three-phase + neutral low-voltage electrical installation suffering an overvoltage, for which the load-shedding amplitude is predetermined. It consists of an electronic assembly fed by a transformer (single-phase mounting) and by three transformers (single-phase + neutral). When an overvoltage appears on the primary circuit, the information is processed by the electronic assembly, a load-shedding command is then sent to the apparatus controlled. The load shedding is temporary when the apparatus controlled is a contactor (Figure 1). The load sheddding is permanent when the apparatus controlled is a circuit breaker (Figure 2). The device according to the invention is particularly intended for protecting electrical installations against overvoltages. <IMAGE>
