The gamma compensation circuit compensating the illumination difference between the real one reflected from the objective and the human feeling one uses a microprocessor to control the gamma characteristic varied according to the temperature. The circuit comprises a first switch (14) switching the colour signals (R,G,B) in sequence as long as 1 H with the control signals (CTL1-2), a signal holding circuit (100) sample-holding the switched signal, an amplifier (20), a D/A converter (22), a controller (13) providing the digital gain signal for the gamma compensation and the control signal for the circuit (100), a delaying amplifier (200) delaying and amplifying the colour signal, and a second switch (15) gamma-compensating the colour signal.
