Process for automatic recycling of sludge in purification stations employing surface oxygenation. The invention allows the oxygenation turbine, which is driven by an electric motor, to be also capable of performing suction work, in order to recycle the sludge from an adjoining clarifier. The principle consists in connecting the oxygenation tank and the clarifier by a smooth connecting pipe inclined at 15 to 60 DEG in relation to the vertical. This pipe starts in the suction duct which is under the turbine and as close as possible to the surface to take advantage of the suction created by the turbine. Its mouthpiece is as deep as possible in the clarifier in order to make it possible to draw in again the sludge separated out at the bottom of the latter. This device finds its application in the treatment of aqueous effluents of all kinds, for works of any size.
