<p>The invention provides for an apparatus and method for weighing an article (114) using a scale (22), by performing a first weighing operation, slightly moving the scale (22), on which the object is weighed, relative to a housing (24,28), performing a second weighing operation, comparing the results, and providing an indication to the scale operator if the two results differ by a predetermined amount. The operator is then given an indication of whether the article (114) to be weighed is completely located on the scale or whether it also overlays the housing (24,28) and is therefore not weighed properly.
