The metal strip is slit into narrow strips by passing it between a sandwich assembly of cutter disks (22) and spacer disks (23) on upper and lower rotating shafts (21, 21''). To ensure accurate slitting without lateral curvature of the strip the gap at the edges of a cutter disk must be accurately controlled. This is achieved by three guides disks (41, 42, 43) axially separated from the cutters and mounted on the supper and lower shafts outside the fixed side frame (30) of the machine. The single guide disk (41) is clamped integral with the upper shaft, which has axial play in the eccentrically adjustable housing sleeve (36). The other two guide disks (42, 43) form an accurately lower shaft. ADVANTAGE - Accurate cutter alignment and better work quality. Ease of set-up. Guide disks are protected and free from temperature effects.
