In the laminating arrangement a vacuum chamber comprises two opposing platens (10,15) movable towards each other, with edge frames. Each platen contains a pressure mat backed by a heater mat. The packet to be laminated is conveyed into the open chamber without touching the heated platens on a thin band, pref. of 12-36 micrometres thick polyester film, which is sealed with soft rubber seals. USE/ADVANTAGE - Useful for laminating films onto printed circuit boards, and laminating PVC, PE and PC films and similar materials. Device permits complete degassing of laminate before heating whilst flexible pressure mats permit uniform pressure on laminate. Also cyclic operation can be performed without manual handling. Costly and complicated drive for lower platen, acting as conveyor is avoided and the low heat capacity of thin polyester film reduces heat losses outside vacuum chamber, energy consumption and cycle times and improves handleability
