Nonwoven fabric for plant protection in open land - has fibrous webs previous to air and water and interposed bonded network of equal or stronger texture

Fabric has an upper and lower fibrous web, which is pervious to air and water. In between the two layers of web is bonded a network of equal or stronger texture. The nonwoven fabric is pref. a web of staple fibre (12,14) from rolls (22,24), and it may contain thermosetting plastic, or have adhesive applied during construction, which fixes the web to the cross sections of the rectangular net (16) from the roll (26). This is made of material which is as strong, or stronger than the web. It may be polythene, polyester or polypropylene. These are then pressed between the rollers (30,32), which may have some form of heat treatment, and the fabric (10) is then rolled up. The size of the square of the net determines the size of cloche for each plant. USE/ADVANTAGE - The fabric provides plant protection in open land, for horticultural work. It is not necessary to remove and refix the protective cover, as the fabric allows water to percolate, and air to circulate.
