Open end friction spinning machine has two friction rolls connected to suction source. It also has a yarn storage unit which is equipped with suction shoe with a suction duct that runs in parallel to the friction roll axis. The suction shoe is inserted or can be inserted into the wedge gap of the friction rolls. It features front opening which is significantly bigger than the dia. of the yarn and reaches the vicinity of the lowest point of the wedge gap. The suction sohoe is equipped with yarn retaining means which decelerate the yarn to be joined at least during the last phase of the transfer of the yarn to the gap in such a way that sprining and/or curling is prevented. ADVANTAGE - During the spinning, the yarn held in the storage unit is guided to the wedge gap without curling.
