Process automatically trims/cuts a block of foam in readiness for further operations and cuts outlines in partic.; a cross-cutter cuts out by a copying process from the block which is mounted on a table. The block is first cut accurately along two opposite sides, the offcuts are automatically removed from the ends of the table, the block is turned through 90 degrees, the other two sides are then cut and their offcuts again removed. The table is moved along tracks. The cutter cuts along the dotted line and has a drive and vertically moving frame. The block is fed in from belts on to the turntable and up to the position by the cutter, where it is turned through 90 degrees so that its two sides are parallel to the cutter. Two sides are then cut and the offcuts fall on to the table. The table is moved as required and the rollers are driven so that the cut block is passed over to the belt and removed by rollers. ADVANTAGE - The procedure produces accurate cuts, preventing any offcuts from interfering in the cutting operations
