The optical recording medium has a combination track comprising several tracks. The recording region is divided into data areas and servo areas. At least one pit is formed in the servo area for track servo control for one or more tracks. The servo area pref. has a single pit for the track servo control, and a single timing pit (Pc). The timing pit may be used simultaneously for the servo control, or two swept pits (Wp1, Wp2) and a timing pit may be provided in the servo area. ADVANTAGE - Allows higher density data recording.
