A method and a machine for helically placing a strip of film on the vertical surfaces (F) of a load (C) such as a palletized load. The machine includes a stationary frame (1); a table (24) for receiving the load on the frame (1); bearings for supporting a reel of film; a roller (12) controlling the film unwinding speed; an assembly (15) supported by the frame, movable between two upper and lower end positions, and hinged about a second axis to the end of a set of arms which are in turn hinged to the frame about a first axis at their other end, said first and second axes being horizontal and parallel to the axis of the bearings of the film reel, and said assembly furthermore being pivoted in either direction by a pivoting device; as well as a set of tie rods hinged to the movable assembly and the frame and forming deformable parallelograms with said arms so that said movable assembly remains in a constant relative horizontal position. |
