Method for temporary storage of flexible metal strip - uses deflector device, to move strip successively from upright into horizontal position

The method is esp. for use in pipe forming plant. A metal strip (1) rolled into a spiral is standing on edge, and its innermost winding (6) is passed helically over the remaining windings, by a deflector device. During this movement, the strip is successively moved from upright into horizontal position in the area of the innermost winding. The deflector device consists of several internal and external calibrated rollers, which engage on the inner winding. Several rollers are contained in a roller cage. USE/ADVANTAGE - Economical, smaller and flatter temporary storage for flexible metal strip.
