The gum substance can be applied to a damp felt placed round the object being protected. The moisture in the felt helps to preserve the adhesive action of the gum. The gum can be poured into a gap formed after placing a band round the tree stem or the like. An adsorbent filled with water can be mixed in with the gum substance. A substance of equal nature can be used instead of the molasses. USE/ADVANTAGE - The gum substance protects objects against vermin and is easy to apply, readily available and will not cause any environmental harm.
