摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect failures of a starter part without using a pinion rotation sensor.SOLUTION: In a step S205, it is diagnosed whether there occurs such a failure that a pinion gear 101e and a ring gear 106 are constantly connected to each other. In this diagnosis, a pinion gear connection signal p is turned off, a starter motor drive signal m is turned on, and the failure of the starter part is detected on the basis of an engine speed. In a step S206, it is diagnosed whether there occurs such a failure that the pinion gear 101e and the ring gear 106 are in non-connection states constantly. In this diagnosis, the pinion gear connection signal p is turned on, the starter motor drive signal m is turned on, and the failure of the starter part is detected on the basis of the engine speed. In a step S207, it is detected whether there occurs such a failure that the starter motor 101a is constantly rotated. In this diagnosis, the pinion gear connection signal p is turned on, the starter motor drive signal m is turned off, and the failure of the starter part is detected on the basis of the engine speed. When the failures are detected, a succeeding idle stop is prohibited.
