PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save waste of a recording liquid in suction at the time of maintenance without an increase in a device size.SOLUTION: A device for maintaining and recovering a head which sucks a liquid from a nozzle of a liquid ejection head includes: a suction cap 82a (main cap) for capping a part or all of nozzles in nozzle arrays of an ejection surface on which nozzles of the liquid ejection head are formed; a sub-cap 92 which is provided inside of the suction cap 82a and caps nozzles of a smaller number than the number of the nozzles to be capped by the suction cap 82a; and suction means for sucking the inside of the suction cap 82a and the inside of the sub-cap 92. The sub-cap 92 is provided in the inside of the suction cap 82a so as to be moved in a nozzle array direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9 |
