An incoming call and conversation recorder (30) is connected to the telephone exchange (3) and to each operator. The exchange has a number of lines (2) working in conjunction with a telecommunication system or network (1) for selected data transmission, and a second number of lines (7) connected to intermediary appts. A control unit (5) and coupling unit (4) are provided via which a signal information occurring on one of the first lines (2') is interpreted for coupling that line to another line (7) for speech connection. Each incoming call is evaluated as to its identity, and a line (7) selected by the operator is also evaluated as to its identity, and for each time section only the information transmissions effective for the time section are monitored and stored, and each information transmission is storable within a system with simple search functions.
