PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods of treating a patient suffering from or at risk of systemic, regional or local inflammation.SOLUTION: The present invention concerns methods of treating systemic, regional or local inflammation in a patient suffering from or at risk of such inflammation, the methods comprising administration of therapeutically effective doses of a sorbent that absorbs an inflammatory mediator in the patient.
