The seal comprises a body (2) with a hole (3) for the passage of the sealing wire (4). The seal is made from a material less malleable than lead. At right angles to and above the hole is a protruding slug (7) which is partially cut away from the body by a circular slot (9) formed round it. In use, the ends of the security wire are fed through the hole. A specially adapted pair of pliers is used to squeeze the slug which in turn closes the hole beneath it, thus gripping the wire. USE/ADVANTAGE - As a security seal for sealing items such as bottles of liqueurs using a less toxic material than lead.
