A separator for removing floating impurities from liquids consists of a sepn. housing which contains no free liquid surface, and which has a conical roof, serves to concentrate the impurities and leads to a central draw-off point. A pipe which can be closed by a valve leads from the draw-off point to a vessel in which the removed impurities are collected. This vessel is exchangeable and is provided with an air-tight connection to the pipe. This connection is effected by means of a removable cover of standardised dimensions, and an exchangeable adapter with similar dimensions which is attached to the pipe. A closeable vent is located on this adapter, and an isolating valve is closed when the adapter is disconnected from the pipe. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for separating floating impurities, esp. fats and/or oils, from liquids. The separated materials are withdrawn at short intervals so that they can be delivered in a fresh condition to a further treatment process
