Tongs for lifting and turning building bricks

Suspended from a scissors mechanism are two coaxially opposed shafts (36) with horizontally projecting fingers (42). To pick up a brick, the gripper fingers are opened using the lever handles (50) and inserted in the brick cavities. The brick is gripped when the handles are released.As the tongs are raised, the weight of the offset brick causes the shafts to rotate and the brick to hang downwards after turning through 90 deg. When the brick is released, the shafts are returned by torsion springs to the pick up position with stops (46) against the cross beam (20).
