The air conditioner operation control method and apparatus includes the steps of: comparing a sensed outdoor temperature with a set temperature for cooling, a set temperature for heating and a set temperature for air blow; if the outdoor temperature is above the cooling set temperature, selecting a cooling mode to control cooling; if the outdoor temperature is under the heating set temperature, selecting a heating mode to control heating; and if the outdoor temperature is within the air blow set temperature, selecting a air blow mode to control air blow, thereby automatically controlling the heating, cooling and air blow of an air conditioner.
