In a method for bobbin exchange in the creel of a textile machine having at least one inner and one outer row of feed bobbins (44, 46), the extraction of a feed bobbin from the outer row (46) allows access to the next inner row (44) for servicing this row. The apparatus for carrying out the method has inter alia a magazine for bobbins (40), a bobbin-transport appliance (38) and a robot for the displacement of bobbins (40). The robot (52, 54) can be combined with a further servicing appliance (26, 28). The method and the apparatus make it easier to exchange feed bobbins at locations which are difficult to reach. <IMAGE>
