Chimeric factor viii polypeptides and uses thereof

Disclosed is a chimeric protein comprising a factor VIII protein and the D’ domain and D3 domain of Von Willebrand Factor, wherein the FVIII protein and VWF fragment are on separate polypeptide chains and are covalently linked. The VWF fragment is capable of preventing endogenous VWF from binding to the FVIII protein. Compositions and methods of treating bleeding diseases are also disclosed.
