<p>Electric arc furnace with alternative power sources operating on continuous or alternating current comprising means for the injection of oxygen, pure or in combination, either above bath 16 by means of lances 12 or below by means of a plurality of pipes 13 located in the base of the furnace 10, the said pipes 13 being cooled through the peripheral passage of a cooling mixture comprising at least one gas having a high cooling power (methane, butane, inert gases, etc.) and at least one diluting gas (nitrogen, carbon dioxide), with means 15 being present for the introduction of additives and/or powdered coal, pipes 13 having an oxygen addition pipe 18 having a diameter of more than 8 mm and the oxygen pressure being adjustable in relation to the working stages, with a minimum constant delivery pressure. Process for the management of melting, associated with an electric furnace as above, the said furnace comprising means for the injection of oxygen, pure or in combination, either above bath 16 by means of lances 12 and below by means of a plurality of pipes 13 placed in the base of the furnace 10, the said pipes 13 being cooled by the peripheral passage of a cooling mixture comprising at least one gas having a high cooling power (methane, butane, inert gases, etc.) and at least one diluting gas (nitrogen, carbon dioxide), means 15 being present for the introduction of additives and/or powdered coal, each individual charge being subdivided in defined intervals with which an oxygen feed pressure through pipe 13 and a percentage of gas of high cooling power in relation to the oxygen flow are associated, there being a minimum oxygen delivery pressure at all times while furnace 10 is in operation. <IMAGE></p> |
