Method for drying wood products in which the wood products are heated to eliminate water present in them. In the invention each wood product unit is heated separately to a temperature at which its lignins and other components soften. Each wood material unit is also dried in the method separately in a state so that it becomes essentially straight and acquires predetermined dimensions in cross section, in which the wood product after removal of a sufficient amount of water is made to swell and stiffen free of tension straight and to a cross section of predetermined dimensions. <IMAGE>
