The invention relates to a packaging material using at least one sheet of wood. This material is characterized in that the sheet (1) comprises strengthening lines (3, 4, 4', 5, 12) holding the wood fibres firmly together, the said strengthening lines being formed at a distance from one another in a direction more or less transverse with respect to the wood fibres; the strengthening lines are formed by stitching or by densifying the substance, it being possible for their orientation to be orthogonal (3), oblique (4, 4', 12), crossed (4, 4'), in straight lines (3, 4, 4', 12) or in curved lines (5).
