A truncated rotavirus VP4 protein as well as a coding sequence and a preparation method thereof. The truncated rotavirus VP4 protein comprises a medicinal composition and a vaccine of the protein; and the protein, the medicinal composition and the vaccine can be used for preventing, reducing or treating infection of a rotavirus and diseases caused by the infection of the rotavirus, such as rotavirus gastroenteritis and diarrhea.
