11 A blind rivet 1 comprises a hollow rivet body 4 including a shank 2 and a flange 3 and a mandrel 5 which is to be inserted into the hollow hole of the body and is longer than the body. The mandrel 5 is inserted so that a diametrically enlarged head 7 is positioned on the opposite end of the shank 2 to the flange 3. By pulling the mandrel strongly, the shank of the rivet body is buckled to expand it so that the blind rivet is attached to a panel or the like by means of the buckled shank and the flange. The rivet body 4 is covered with a sheath 10 made of plastic. The sheath is formed in a tube comprising a tubular portion 12 to cover the diametrically enlarged head 7 and the rivet body shank 2 and a flange 13 to face with the rivet body flange 3. The peripheral surface of the rivet body shank 2 is formed with a circumferential groove 15 while a raised portion 17 to fit into the circumferential groove is formed on the inner surface of the sheath 10 at a position corresponding to the circumferential groove 15.
