<p>A modular milling system and associated cutter, particularly for multi-spindle NC machine tools, wherein each cutter is made up of two detachable elements, a tang (18) for engagement and axial positioning in a spindle (4) and an active element (17), the tang (18) being provided with a conical socket (22) for engaging, aligning and axially positioning a corresponding cone (19) for engaging, aligning and axially positioning the active element, and with first means (23) co-operating with second means (20) of the active element to lock the active element on the tang. The two-piece construction of the cutters simplifies and reduces the re-grinding costs and allows the cutting tools to be exchanged with no need to reset the positions of the tangs in the spindles. <IMAGE></p> |
